Denim

Italy’s designers are bringing denim back, but with a relaxed fit. The week featured denim pants that were cropped and wide legged. Many were paired with lace panels, floral detailing and even rhinestones! Armani created cropped cuffs that were finished with tailored jackets. Even Karl Lagerfeld (@KarlLagerfeld) recognized women’s demand for denim and created a jodhpur type style that were cropped at the calf.

Sheer and Light

Showing a little skin will definitely be a fashion-do for next summer. The Blumarine and Alberta Ferretti runways caught our eye with a multitude of romantic and sheer fabrics that featured floral embroideries. Armani also featured a collection of light, flowing pieces. The light peplums, tailoring and wide-leg trousers all were able to recreate the way in which the ocean moves, light and effortlessly.

Coats and Jackets

Typically spring/summer fashion week collections features an array of bare legs, midriff baring tops and the occasional swimsuit. However, this year we have seen collections including both coats and jackets for the spring/summer 2015 season. Prada’s (@Prada) collection stood out from the rest, with buttons from the knee all the way to the neck and topstitching. The duster coat, deconstructed trench and 1970s safari jacket were all featured on the runway from Bottega, Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo, Missoni and MaxMara.

Color Blocking and Sparkle

Dsquared stole the show with bright and bold color blocking while Jil Sander debuted a more relaxed silhouette of color blocking featuring earthy tones. This year Milan brought the glamour factor back with brocade from Prada and bright color studded jeans from Dolce & Gabbana (@dolcegabbana). Versace (@Versace) had the ultimate bling in a collection that Donatella stated as daywear, which consisted of short dresses made of Swarovski crystals.

Belts

We think the 70s influence of this years Milan fashion week had an influence on the amount of belts we saw this season on the runway. Just about every collection that was shown had pieces that included jackets and coats that were belted at the waist. Sportmax had cinched coats with black fringed leather and self-ties that brought together loose dresses.
