Alexis Monsanto, Founder and Designer of Alexis Monsanto Atelier showcased his latest collection in LA on Saturday October 18th and boy was it a show. Self-proclaimed “Perfectionist” Monsanto found his love of Fashion from the age of 15 when he attended his first runway show in Manila. His signature traits are his love of tailoring and precision cuts for his designs and following the natural curves of the female body.
“As the basting and fitting progresses, it is amazing how the woman changes and a harmony is born between her body and the fabric, that is why couture can be said to women’s second skin.”
Monsanto channeled the Roman Empire with a sporty and elegant edge. His runway was a cacophony of colours, prints and textures that were beyond pleasant to the eye. His designs ranged from quirky 2 piece outfits to elaborate and stunning floor length dresses ready to set any red carpet alight. He complimented his pieces with some beautiful accessories with extravagant hats and even a diamond mask (my favourite look). What piece can you not live with out?!
Adding a little unique twist to his show Monsanto also treated us to some male eye candy modelling what appears to be matching suits to some of his female designs. His’n’Hers outfits are back in, love it!
