We were incredibly excited when we heard that Prabal Gurung would be making a beauty collection this fall with MAC Cosmetics, and to be honest this sounds like the perfect partnership. Although the luxury fashion designer has worked with the beauty giant before on his ready to wear runway shows, this will be the first time he will be able to put his artistic eye on the making of the products.
The collection is beautifully created from the inside and out. The packaging is a gorgeous gold and is detailed with accent’s that you would imagine women would wear in the 1920’s. The products will include lipsticks in rich colors of reds, purples, a bronze powder, eyeshadows, eyeliners and a buffer brush that will range from $20 through $70.
Gurung hoped that this beauty line would help “enhance” a women’s beauty instead of just making someone look beautiful. He wanted it to be about more than just looking a certain way and more about letting the makeup represent who you really are; a beautiful woman. Gurung stated:
“When they came to me with this opportunity, I jumped at the chance. I’m really sensitive and emotional, so I really need to feel that connection with a brand. And MAC has a philosophy I believe in. The one universal truth I really believe in is that every woman – no matter her shape, size or race – wants to look beautiful. I wanted to create that.” (Beauty High)
