The Plait has taken the Spring Summer 15 Catwalks by storm this last few weeks and I, for one, am thrilled at the prospects. If, like me, you often wake up in the morning to find your hair has had a party while you slept and is shooting off in a million different directions, do not worry. Put your Hair straightener and your Frizz-Ease away and simply pull your hair to the side, down your back or across your hairline and create a beautiful messy braid.
Mara Hoffman (@marahoffman) displayed loose, Long plaits on her Catwalk with a mixture of twists and plaiting to create a laid back, pretty look.
Peter Som (@petersom) , Donna Karan (@donnakaran) and Erdem (@erdemlondon) all displayed sleek pulled back braids with a twist. Peter Som updated his plait by using wet look hair, perfect if your running late in the morning. Just hop out of the shower, pull together a quick plait and off you go! Donna Karan used a 4 braid plait to add a more sophisticated edge to her Catwalk (I’m yet to master this one!) Whilst Erdem kept it simple, tidy and plain so as to compliment his beautiful printed collection.
Suno (@suno), Tadashi Shoji (@Tasashishoji) and Michael Kors (@michaelkors) all put their own stamp of the hairstyle of the season too. Suno went all out and created a Mermaid plait with endless amounts of strands, I commend his Hairstylists! Tadashi Shoji paved a new route for the plait by turning it into a sophiscated bun. The Hair Team at Michael Kors made it plain and simple, naturally dried hair, not a GHD in sight, and pulled the hair into a loose 3 strand braid that us mere mortals can easily replicate.
Not to be forgotten is the Fishtail Plait which can be mastered with a bit of practice. Tome (@tomenyc) brought it alive on its Catwalk for Fashion Week. Once mastered, the Fishtail is a timeless plait that you will come back to again and again whether it be a messy side plait or a slicked back look.
Happy Plaiting Ladies!
