For my acai bowl lovers out there, you all know that an #AcaiBowl is the perfect #summer #snack/#meal that’s #refreshing, #energy-boosting and absolutely #delicious! I probably crave one at least 3 times a week during these hot summer days. However, what prevents me from getting it that much is that acai bowls can be pretty pricy at juice bars. So I thought, why not try make it at home? And it turns out to be pretty easy to make! Before I share the recipe with you, here are some health and background information on acai bowls for those of you who haven’t heard of them or tried them.

#Acai, pronounced as “ah-sigh-ee,” is a superfood from Brazil with immense health benefits. Acai berries are rich in #antioxidants, protein and omega fatty acids, as well as the vitamins and minerals found in most fruit. Acai berries are therefore great sources for boosting the immune system, detoxing, and improving the metabolic system. They are now commonly made into a smoothie bowl with other healthy ingredients. And here are the steps to make an acai bowl at home!

1. First, prepare the ingredients for the puree.
– frozen acai packs
– almond milk or coconut milk
– Frozen fruit, i.e. different kinds of berries, bananas, or other
(To make them even healthier, add some veggies such as spinach or kale)
(Feel free to add other ingredients to obtain your desired flavor. For example, add peanut butter or cacao powder or honey)

2. Blend the ingredients and until it is puréed. Make sure not to blend for too long so the purée stays thick and creamy.

3. Pour the purée into a bowl and add some granola or oatmeal. Stir it.

4. Top the bowl with your choice of toppings! I recommend adding some more granola, fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries and sliced bananas.

Enjoy!
