A few weeks ago we stayed at The Ambrose Hotel in Santa Monica, CA for a “Staycation”. Douglas and I have been so busy lately we needed a little getaway to recharge, but we don’t have time for a vacation right now so Staycation is the way to go. Every so often we like do this vacation/staycation thing to help us clear us minds and enjoy the city we live in as if we were tourist.
It is so much fun and relaxing, I recommend you do it every now and then.
I have been at The Ambrose Hotel before for different events the have through out the year, like wine tasting, yoga classes and more. But I have never stayed as I guest, so we decided to give it a try.
The Ambrose Hotel is an award winning eco-friendly boutique hotel, and is the perfect mix of luxury and sustainability. The hotel also has complimentary local transportation within a 3 mile radius, which is perfect to go to the Santa Monica Pier and shopping.
As an eco-friendly hotel, The Ambrose has preferential hybrid car parking. The also have a 24 hour fitness room (no excuses people)
So booked the Hotel for 1 night, we packed a few things a drove 9 miles from our house to the hotel, super far right? it really doesn’t matter how far or close it is where you are going, the idea is to get out of house and be in a different environment.
The Hotel’s entrance is so zen and peaceful with several outdoor sitting areas, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or wine.
As soon as we go up to our room, this is the amazing view we had from our window. I mean talk about picture perfect.
Our room is so gorgeous, I love the bedding with the long round pillow and the view we have from our bed. I just wanted to stay in room and chill all day, but we wanted to make the best of our staycation and explore Santa Monica and visit new places we haven’t been to.
Then I started to unpack and organize my shoes and a few accessories for all of our outings.
It was kind of chilly day, so I decided to pack a coat because I am always cold.
I brought a few of my favorite beauty products and go-to jewelry. And of course I had lay them down all pretty in the bathroom.
I started to run the water to take a bath before we headed out for lunch, and I couldn’t wait to put on this amazing Frette cotton bathrobe, that I wore as much as i could.
It feels so cozy and warm.
After my warm bath, I got dressed and ready to head out.
The view through the curtain
We had heard of this restaurant, but had never been to it. So we decided to Pono Burger, it is an organic, local burger joint.
The burgers are to die for, it was so hard to choose. So ended up sharing our burgers half and half so we could taste both, and since we love fries but got both french fries and sweet potatoes fries.
After our delicious lunch we went to the Santa Monica Place, yes I know I said I was going to new place. But shopping is always part of any vacation, so why wouldn’t shop on a staycation, right? And guess where I went shopping? yep you know it, my favorite department store Nordstrom. I got a gorgeous white dress to wear for our dinner date.
We walked from the Santa Monica Place to the Third Street Promenade while the sun was setting and we realized we always walk by this place but had never been inside, so today was the day. Stickhouse has that is, a gelato and coffee shop, I have to say after trying both I am addicted and have to back very soon.
And then a little shopping at Banana Repubic, because I love this store and they 40% off, that’s a win win!
And I found a super cute bag that goes perfect with the white dress I got at Nordstrom perfect for our dinner date, this staycation is getting better and better by the hour.
It was time to back to hotel to relax a little and get ready to go out to dinner.
This is my happy face to be heading out with a new dress and bag, I asked Douglas to take a picture(s) of my outfit.
We decided to go to 800 Degrees Pizza in Downtown Santa Monica, we had a bianca pizza but forgot to take a picture. But my tummy can tell you it was delish.
The following morning I woke up, I checked my emails and my schedule for the week ahead. ANother thing that I love is that the Hotel had complimentary Wi-Fi and that is music to my ears.
One of my favorite things in this world is to have breakfast in bed, so we did. We had coffee with croissants, waffles and fruits.
This all natural breakfast is complimentary, yes you read it right. Foodie heaven!
I always see these Hulu bikes all over Santa Monica and there is a station across the hotel, that is super convenient to the mall, to beach or just cruise around the city.
Now it was time to say goodbye to The Ambrose Hotel and our staycation in Santa Monica.
We left happy and refreshed and ready to go home to our daily routine, and as we head out we enojoy one last look at the gorgeous the patio and outdoor area of The Hotel Ambrose.
Until our next staycation, stay tuned my loves!
I thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this Staycation story as much as I enjoyed taking pictures and exploring. Hope you have a super duper day!
With Lots of Love,
