Gaby Aghion, one of the two original founders of Chloé, passed away on Saturday September 27 at the age of 93. Friends and colleagues described her as the ultimate personification of the brand as well as feisty and opinionated. According to Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye, Chloé’s chairman and CEO, one of Aghion’s last wishes before death was for her passing to not interfere with the company’s ss 15 show. The show is still scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and will be held in Aghion’s memory. Although not financially invested in the company since 1985, Aghion rarely missed a Chloé show and was still very much emotionally invested in the brand. She hired some of the most influential designers as creative directors of Chloé over the years including Lagerfeld, Philo, and McCartney. Aghion was very demanding and critical when it came to the standards of the company but there’s no doubt her expectations were the reason Chloé became the successful fashion house it is today.
